With the summer fast approaching and preparations for Lambeth well under way it is time to bring some of this month’s new titles to your attention.

The first title to have a closer look at this month is Praying For England edited by Sam Wells and Sarah Coakley. This is a collection of vibrant and challenging essays about Anglicanism today. The authors have spent substantial periods of time in parish ministry - in many cases in areas of social deprivation - and this shows in the faithfulness and hope they demonstrate. This book is all about practical Anglicanism and will give hope and encouragement to all who read it. Anglican theology in action.

Moving on to a totally different tone, the next book is What Am I Doing Here? - A beginners Guide To Church by Hilary Brand. With a down to earth style and subtle humour this book takes you through an Anglican Holy Communion service and tries to demystify what happened and why. The book features illustrations by Dave Walker, one of the best known Christian cartoonists. What Am I Doing Here? is extremely accessible and would make an excellent gift for a newcomer to church or an ideal tool for use in confirmation. At only £4.99 it is also very good value.

Finally, this month sees the Lambeth Conference taking place, one of the key books being discussed at the conference is Anglican Communion And Homosexuality edited by Phil Groves. This is the official study guide to enable listening and dialogue. This book includes items from all parts of the world, from individuals and groups, to give a wide range of views. Background information on homosexuality, advice on the process of dialogue and case studies are included. This will be a very important book over the course of the summer.
