The Amplified Bible is a popular translation used to understand the hidden meaning of Greek and Hebrew words. Priority has been given to word translation plus additional amplification of word meaning in a systems of brackets and parentheses.

First published in 1611, the Authorised, or King James Version is an indispensable classic that has left a permanent mark on the English language and its literature. The version gives priority to word translation rather than meaning and is still popular for its faithfulness to the original text.

The Contemporary English Version uses everyday language to convey the dramatic events of the Bible, giving it a beauty and clarity that makes it easy for anyone to read and understand. It's ideal for reading out loud in schools, churches and study groups.

The Good News Bible is one of the best-selling modern translations and the most commonly used in schools. It offers the reader an accurate Bible translation using today's language and is suitable for all ages.

The Jerusalem Bible is the work of mostly British Roman Catholic scholars. The language is generally literary and, in some parts, of a highly poetic quality. Also available is the New Jerusalem Bible - a complete revision to follow an even closer translation of the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek.

The Living Bible is an extremely popular and easy to read paraphrase written by Dr Kenneth Taylor. His goal was to convey the message of God's Word to people using everyday language that is easy to understand.

The Message is a refreshingly unique Bible-reading experience. With no formal language, it's easier to understand, and it's easier to make the connection between what you are reading and what it means for your everyday life.

The New American Standard Bible is a highly respected formal translation. The purpose of the work was to update the American Standard Version into more current English whilst adhering as closely as possible to the original languages.

British scholars translated The New English Bible directly from the original texts. Using literary style, their intention was to produce a complete translation using the language of the day. It reproduces the meaning of the original tet as closely as possibly even when this means changing the grammatical form.

The New International Version is the best-selling modern translation today. Translated by an interdemoninational team of English-speaking scholars, it is based on the best Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts. The NIV is designed to have clarity and literary quality and to be suitable for public and private reading, memorising and liturgical use. New International Version

The New International Readers Version is based on the best-selling New International Version (NIV) but is even clearer and easier to understand. Whilst retaining the accuracy and reliability of the NIV, the translators have successfully simplified the terminology, used shorter sentences and added more headings. New International Reader's Version

The New King James Version, published in 1982, is a major revision of the Authorised Version. The translation aims to preserve the historic dignity of the 1611 text, but updates all that is no longer easily understood.

The New Living Translation is both accurate and accessible. Translated by 90 eminent Bible scholars from the original Hebrew and Greek texts, it conveys the eternal message of the Bible in the language we speak today. This increasingly popular translation makes an incredibly refreshing read.

The New Revised Standard Version is an extensive revision of the Revised Standard Version. It takes into account more recently discovered Hebrew manuscripts and excludes the use of 'thees and thous'. New Revised Standard Version

The Revised Standard Version uses simple, enduring words and is designed for use in public and private worship, for reading and instruction. It provides an accurate, literal translation. Revised Standard Version

Today's New International Version has been produced to meet the ever-growing spiritual needs of today's generation of believers - as well as helping to nourish the next generation - by offering a Bible that faithfully communicates the timeless truths of God's Word.
